The Publics share gritty tones of new single ‘D.B. Cooper’

Emerging from Mansfield and simultaneously making themselves known on the nearby streets of Nottingham, The Publics’ electrifying performances have been seen to support the likes of The Sherlocks and The Lottery Winners, alongside selling out headliners at The Bodega. The five-piece is built on the talents of Josh Porter, Elliot Stephenson, Ollie Siggee, Tom Scott and Taylor Gadsby, who draw inspiration from alt-rock idols for a fresh amalgamation of that gritty sound.

Well on the way to the release of their debut EP I Know the World Stopped, but Why Did You?, The Public’s have released ‘D.B. Cooper’, a new single with ambitions set to fill stadiums. The opening riff is bursting with energy, the layers of distortion and pounding kick drum backing a pick slide that almost sounds like a distant scream.

Once again, The Publics’ lyricism is filled with intensity, seeking to observe and investigate through high-octane delivery leading a charge of fierce tones. A dynamic frenzy that culminates in a huge final chorus that shakes the ground beneath your feet, The Publics have done it again, and consequently send a flurry of anticipation for their new EP.

The Publics dive in, sharing, “Based on one of the FBI’s greatest unsolved mysteries, D. B. Cooper recounts how one manager stole from multiple bands before they collapsed and were forced to disband. The song aims to stand out at our festival performances with a huge breakdown section and chanty backing vocals encouraging an energetic response from large crowds. The track’s ominous bass riff is complimented by sci-fi esc guitar licks to create a mysterious atmosphere whilst remaining bouncy and exciting to capture the attention of first time listeners.”
