Steadily but surely rising through the ranks of upcoming musicians since their debut, Suffolk duo Three Years Younger have made appearances on BBC Radio 1, multiple UK television channels and received widespread editorial support in the press and playlists. With that backing for their releases, they’ve also struck a chord with the live scene, performing at Latitude Festival and Camp Bestival and supporting Ellie Dixon.
Their latest release keeps them rolling down the path toward their new EP Pretty For Now. The single, ‘Pretty (But Not Supposed To Be Here)’, is another roaring anthem from sisters Charlie and Megan Simpson. Rooting down in punchy rock backdrops, the distorted guitars flying out of the speakers as the drums pick moments to shake up the atmosphere.
The track holds a subtle complexity, constantly changing energies keeping the listener viscerally engaged. The vocals are fantastical and intricate, a perfect blend of raw rock power and thoughtful arrangement and design.
Three Years Younger adds, “After a few years of a creative trickle, we had to face the music; there was a lot of work to do to get us back on track. Faced with a feeling of being ‘below the glass ceiling’ compared to many young boy bands rising insanely fast, and reminiscing on the various forms of misogyny we had faced from past live gig experiences, ‘Pretty (But Not Supposed To Be Here)’ was born.”
