At the age of twenty-one, a disillusioned Will Prince packed away his guitar and decided that the music business was not for him after all. But, thirty-five years later “in a moment of madness” he decided he had unfinished business – and with a renewed focus and determination to write solid guitar-based music – he set to work.
Before long, with the help of producer Joe Lonsdale and Nashville’s very own Chris Cron on vocals – Trevena and the album ‘Distant Lights‘ was born.
“My interest was always in music written for and played mostly by guitars, mainly rock and acoustic”, says Will. “There seemed to be so little guitar orientated music in the mainstream compared to when I first played. I’d put on a Led Zeppelin album – and there would be a track with a heavy guitar riff followed by an acoustic track – and it worked!”.
From Country to Rock to good old-fashioned radio-friendly AOR – these emotive offerings have now morphed into a veritable Pandoras Box of tunes that give ‘ear worm’ a whole new meaning.
The turntable hits ‘Blind Leading The Blind‘ and ‘Looks Like Rain’ wet the appetite for the harder-edged ‘Roll The Bones’ and ‘Dance Macabre‘ that give way to the gentler touching tones of ‘Drift Away’ – with the unmistakable Trevena brand running throughout. A rich vein indeed.
Recorded in London and Nashville itself, ‘Distant Lights’ is an aural delight from start to finish, and is destined to be a future classic.
