Triple Threat: daniel aron, Babapiros, and HALOSARA Release ‘Heaven Sent’

In an exciting new collaboration, the trio of daniel aron, Babapiros, and HALOSARA have unveiled their first single together, ‘Heaven Sent’.

The trio brings together a wealth of musical talent and experience. daniel aron, a multi-instrumentalist, has carved out a unique space in the music world with his work in new wave jazz, hip hop, and beat-driven music. Babapiros, a.k.a. Geri Háló, is not only a drummer but also a versatile multi-instrumentalist and touring musician. He gained international recognition with his former band Mongooz and the Magnet, whose song ‘Never Know’ appeared on the acclaimed US TV show Shameless. HALOSARA, Sára Háló, is the sister of Geri Háló. As a singer and keyboard player, she has been featured on the latest mïus album, earning praise from CLASH Magazine, Rinse FM, and When We Dip.

The Budapest-based trio are no strangers to the city’s gig circuit. daniel aron is a key player in Budapest’s new wave jazz scene, having studied at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz (KUG). Babapiros is a core member of Budapest-based bands like Meteo, Kolibri, and O’SULLIVAN, and has toured globally with artists such as Zóra, Beton.Hofi, and Call Me Unique, in addition to his work with Mongooz and the Magnet. While HALOSARA is relatively new to the scene, she has already collaborated with notable acts like MYGL and mïus.

Citing Justin Vernon and Dijon as common influences, the trio’s sound in their debut single also draws from their Christian upbringings and various other projects they have been involved in. ‘Heaven Sent’ is reminiscent of contemporary R&B/Neo Soul powerhouses Erykah Badu, D’Angelo, Solange, and BADBADNOTGOOD. Their first offering is a promising taste of what is to come.

‘Heaven Sent’ opens with tender guitar licks and HALOSARA’s sweet vocals. The groove kicks in with a gooey, expansive bassline, sultry backbeat, and passionate yet gentle gospel harmonies. daniel aron’s horns and brass warm the piece up, creating a gorgeously soulful track brimming with musicality.

Babapiros shared an intriguing backstory: “The song basically started from the riff you hear in the chorus played by the guitar and the brass section. Funny story, I came up with that thing years back as a live outro sort of thing for O’SULLIVAN’s ‘Dig Gold’ that never actually made the album recording. But it always felt like we could build a song around that. I like the idea that we shared a similar Christian upbringing with Sára (HALOSARA) and Dani (daniel aron). Even though ‘Heaven Sent’ is not a worship song in the traditional sense, it does feel like one to me.”

The trio’s debut single is just the beginning. With plans for more releases and live performances, daniel aron, Babapiros, and HALOSARA are set to bring their unique ‘pseudo-gospel’ sound to a wider audience.

Stay tuned for more from this promising new project.
