Swedish multifaceted artist Vargen is back with his latest track, ‘CASANOVA’ as he looks to carve a path for his distinctive artistry in 2025. Turning the heads of the industry, and amassing a loyal following, he teases a new album as a new chapter in his career unfolds.
Adding a mystical edge to Vargen’s already colourful discography, ‘CASANOVA’ explores the world of toxic charisma inside riveting melodies of 3/4 time. Taking cues from the likes of Bob Dylan and Nick Cave, the single pours across the airwaves with a Golden Brown-esque harpsichord, paving the way for Vargen to spill his masterfully measured lyricisms. The single builds a world around the Italian Adventurer, from which the track takes its name, offering a perspective on his infamousness and the role of modern pop culture. The single’s vibrant foundation lends itself to a mystical sense of fulfilment, offering a fresh combination of sonics and thematic, bolstering Vargen as a true original.
Exploring the releases embedded into single, Vargen comments, “I find the attraction of toxic charisma fascinating. It seems that it’s been there ever since the ancient days of politician Caesar through libertine Casanova to modern days’ leaders and pop cultural icons. In fairytales all ends well if you’ve been good, but in reality you’re often better off being bad if you want to attract some people. I find that provocation in pop culture or art can be refreshing and it can offer new perspectives. But there’s something very ugly and depressing with bad manors and bullying when performed by world leaders and their following. But as far as history goes those leaders get a hard downfall.”
