Victor Sebastian brings upbeat grooves to ‘LA Sober’

Bringing classic and contemporary into his unique brand of indie pop, Victor Sebastian works both as a solo artist and the frontman of PowderCloud. Spending his time between Los Angeles and Copenhagen, he’s rooted in versatility but brings a dreaminess to every piece of art he touches.

This is no different in his new track ‘LA Sober’, which looks back on his life and forward to where he’s going. He finds himself chasing artistry, but unsure of where he’s chasing it to, a hurdle for all creatives to jump.

He delivers these honest and thoughtful themes through a vibrant and radiant slice of sunny grooves, joyful lyrics and a slight melancholic undertone.

Floating from moment to moment Victor brings a catchy feeling, his lyrics with a fantastic earworm ability, as the choir of vocal leads and harmonies descend on an easy-going bass and guitar groove.

Victor dives into the track, giving his thoughts, “LA Sober came from feeling in the middle of living my dream but realising I left my sanity somewhere along the way with the person I left behind. I was in LA, chasing this dream, but it felt like juggling torches on a tightrope. Exciting but terrifying without a safety net.

My heart was in a tug-of-war, and the song was born out of that tension. Writing it felt like letting out a breath I’d been holding for too long while laughing at the chaos and admitting it hurt. And recording it was a chance to capture that raw honesty; no filters (except on my voice), just what it felt like to be in that moment.”
