Waves Rush In Shares Intoxicating New Single

Waves Rush In (aka Sam Branson) is a singer-songwriter whose music pays tribute to the human experience by taking inspiration from nature, mother earth and life experience on his travels. Since launching in January 2021, the Oxford based artist wasted no time in releasing a debut EP alongside several singles and music videos.

After sharing a debut EP ‘Seasons Change’ in summer of ’21, he now eyes a follow up project with some exciting singles and video content ahead of the full EP drop in May. These new tracks embrace a more hook-driven pop sound with even some dance and RnB elements mixed in with a more familiar acoustic and organic instrumentation.

His new single ‘Intoxicated’ sees the songwriter continue his ethos of taking inspiration form natural sounds, produced in the most contemporary way possible. One of the EP’s highlights, the hooky track signifies a progression in the songwriter’s approach to more radio friendly output. With two distinct parts to the song, tension building verses make way for relief-filled anthemic choruses all tied together with an underlying picking guitar hook which serves as a bed for the story to build from. The upbeat and celebratory aspect expresses the joy of getting together with a romantic interest after a time apart. Sam explains:

“It’s written about lust and that burning desire for someone that you can’t really have in the way that you want and about the connection and release you feel when you finally get it.”

“In the chorus’ there’s Vocoda to give a feminine and sensual sensation of being intoxicated that I’m sure many will identify with. I have my wife’s vocals subtly placed in the song to make sure she has a presence in it.”

As someone whose creativity is fuelled by his travels around the world, Waves Rush In’s previous single ‘Travellers Dream’ pays homage to his explorative heart and is a tribute to all those explorers out there who know that feeling of being in such a distant place yet feeling at peace and finding a deeper connection to themselves and their essence. He explains the inspiration of visiting Morocco:

“The thickness of the air, the silence of the environment around me as we past Moroccan buildings with local dogs barking in the streets and the sounds of ancient prayer. As we wound up through the mountains through the snaking roads, towards the full moon reddened by the desert dust, it dawned on me that sometimes it takes us to travel and explore to reconnect to the place of home in our hearts.”
