Ways of Seeing has spent the past few years supporting fellow up-and-comers, making themselves consistent ones to watch and creating a tastemaker buzz. Now, they begin to reveal their second album, staying true to the concept of revealing hidden aspects of self through their music. The Inheritance of Fear explores the personal, political and universal boldly and without restraint.

As listeners, our first taste of this new sound is ‘Idolise’, harnessing an intro that immediately gets you moving and dialling up the energy of urgent guitars. As verses settle into a vocal-driven haziness, the drums continue to drive but allow for a wistful intention.

The single is special for its dichotomy of two energies, atmospheric tension and unstoppable movement, pulling apart a sound that flies between euphoric and melancholic. Its intricacy and fuzziness continue to elevate, drawing you deeper into the music before unleashing the band’s instrumental ability with screaming production in the final moments.

They explain, “This song explores the dangers of idolisation in a relationship or any other realm of society for that matter. It has the potential to lead to a loss of identity, a power imbalance and the hindrance of growth. Putting anyone on a pedestal means there is a good chance that you might miss the red flags attached which can lead to an unravelling into chaos and destruction. Sometimes only seeing the good in something or someone can tear you apart more than acknowledging and tackling the messy parts of life.”
