Noah Johansen, better known as Whammyboy, is a 24-year-old artist hailing from the quaint Norwegian town of Moss. His creative journey has already spawned several singles that garnered widespread acclaim. Notably, his live performances have been touted as equally mesmerizing as his music itself – marked by catchy melodies and explosive energy. Currently, Whammyboy is fervently working on his debut EP titled “Space Pop Vol. I”, slated for release on September 22. He’s set on propelling “Space-Pop” to the forefront of everyone’s feel-good playlists this year.
The latest addition to Whammyboy’s discography is the track “Chop It”, accompanied by an enticing music video, released through GEMS / ADA / Warner Music Norway. Here at Frontstage Magazine, we are thrilled to bring you the music video in collaboration with Warner Music.
While Whammyboy’s musical style resonates with the contemporary, his previously released singles evoke a sense of nostalgia and yearning. Drawing inspiration from iconic artists like Eiffel 65, Alice Deejay, and Tiesto, whose music he absorbed during his childhood, as well as incorporating some ’80s influences, “Chop It” exudes a unique blend.
Having already taken the stage at Oslo’s Piknik i Parken in June, Whammyboy is now gearing up for performances at Pstereo in Trondheim and the Reeperbahn Festival in Germany during August and September. His upcoming EU tour in October, carrying his debut EP “Space Pop Vol. I”, promises to showcase his electrifying and ecstatic live show. As Whammyboy’s musical journey continues to captivate audiences worldwide, his fusion of modern flair with nostalgic undertones remains a winning formula.
