Zeroz are a unique rock outfit who bring hyperactivity and anime-inspired storytelling to their sound. Pair Atlas Helicopter on drums and frontman Z founded the project in 2018, and have since released two albums, with another on the horizon for the new year.
Their latest track marks a return for the band, coming over a year after their second full-length LOL. ‘The Stupid Song’ contains slightly haunting, emotional lead vocals, choppy drums and a host of glitchy guitar-based rhythms and melodies.
The verses are quiet and low, meaning the song can be unleashed into the choruses, with huge guitar sounds, roaring through the atmosphere with an electrifying intention. The vocals layer up to, crying out at the listener with an uneasy and mildly ferocious intention.
Zeroz shares, “The single is inspired by the cult anime favourite Evangelion where the character Asuka Langley Soryu insults co-character Shinji Ikari, calling him ‘stupid’ whilst repeatedly asking him “Are you stupid?”
