Dave Rosser, guitarist of the Afghan Whigs, has died aged 50.
The musician died after a battle with inoperable colon cancer. Speaking on Facebook, they confirmed that he had died, “It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to our friend, brother and inspiration,” they wrote, “Dave Rosser passed away peacefully last evening surrounded by love. Thank you to all who kept him in their hearts. He is forever in ours.”
Rosser joined the band after they reformed in 2014. He appeared on their 2014 Do To The Beast and their most recent record In Spades.
The band had announced last year that Rosser had inoperable cancer and subsequently held two benefit shows to help raise money for the musician’s medical bills. The gigs included performances from many groups including Mark Lanegan, Ani DiFranco, Morning 40 Federation, King James & The Special Men, C.C. Adcock & The Lafayette Marquis, Moby and Carina Round.
