Moving Taylor Swift off of the top spot, Cardi B has scored her first number one.
The rapper has been in the top five on the Billboard Hot 100 with her single ‘Bodak Yellow‘ for five weeks now. However, she has now reached the top spot, knocking Taylor Swift’s ‘Look What You Made Me Do‘ off of the top spot. Cardi B has made history as the first solo female hip-hop artist to reach number one since ‘Doo Wop (That Thing)‘ by Lauryn Hill, as well as being only the fifth female rapper to make the Hot 100.
Praise has been coming in on Twitter for the rapper, including from Nicki Minaj who said: “Congratulations to a fellow NEW YAWKA on a RECORD BREAKING achievement. Bardi, this is the only thing that matters! Enjoy it.” J.Cole followed this with: “Also Cardi b I seen your breakfast club interview, loved it,” and “Don’t put all that pressure on your album. You already won. Just drop & repeat.“
