Dolores O’Riordan, the lead singer of The Cranberries, has died at age 46.
According to the BBC, a statement issued by her publicist says that she was “in London for a short recording session.” The statement then goes on to explain that there are “no further details” yet available before adding that “family members are devastated to hear the breaking news and have requested privacy at this very difficult time.”
O’Riordan, who was originally from Limerick, led the band to international success back in the ’90s with singles ‘Linger‘, ‘Zombie‘, and more. The first Cranberries album, Everybody Else Is Doing It, So Why Can’t We?, was released in 1993. The singer collaborated with The Smith‘s Andy Rourke in 2016 releasing an album called Science Agrees under the group’s alias D.A.R.K..
