Dean Ween is trying to open a weed-friendly music venue

Dean Ween, co-founder and guitarist of the band Ween, has put forward plans to create music venue in Denver which is cannabis friendly.

The Denver Post reported that plans for the proposed venue, to be named Dean Ween’s Honeypot Lounge, were announced on Monday at a city meeting by chief operating officer Michael Polansky.

Polansky told the Post: “I think cannabis and music make total, total sense together, we think that we can offer a unique kind of musical experience for Denver and the world… Social consumption is the next frontier.”

The plans see Dean Ween’s Honeypot Lounge being set up near Coors Field, with Dean Ween working as an entertainment director.

During the day, the venue would play host to education and wellness programmes, before turning into the nation’s first social consumption music venue at night.

In order to set up the Honeypot Lounge, operators will need to apply for a social consumption license.

Currently, Colorado has only one social consumption site – a coffee shop attached to a dispensary clinic.

Obtaining the license under Colorado state law would forbid the venue from selling alcohol.

As social consumption businesses are forbidden from selling THC products, audience members would be required to bring along their own products, such as edibles and vapes.
