Emika Launches New Label, New Track, and a Surprise Album

Berlin-based British electronic artist Emika has today launched a brand new label ‘Improvisations X Inspirations’. The label is a home for artists to create and release music in a different way than they might do traditionally, with an emphasis on improvisation and live performances. Emika herself offers the inaugural release, with a dream-like song which she made with Jim Barr of Portishead. ‘Sleep In The Day’ is out today. Emika said: “I feel like, perhaps just one beautiful song is all that makes sense to share at this time and it is the first step on my journey with this new project.  I am looking forward to releasing music from the other artists who inspire me very much and watching how this will all begin to take a new shape of its own.”
In addition, Emika has dropped a brand new surprise album ‘Chaos Star’, which is available exclusively on Bandcamp. This is available for only 24 hours on May 1, so be quick if you’d like to grab this collection of ambient and generative sounds.
The album is the first released collection of generative music which Emika has been making since 2018. “It’s like tasting life twice. These are essentially improvisations made by my computer and I love this private conversation I have been having with myself/tech while developing my own algorithms”
