Jennifer Lopez pledges $1 million to Puerto Rico hurricane victims

Jennifer Lopez promised to donate the money after the island was left devastated by Hurricane Maria.

Speaking at a press conference in New York with Governor Andrew Cuomo, the singer announced that she will donate $1 million of her earnings from her Las Vegas residency to victims of Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico. Making the announcement first in Spanish and then English, the singer confirmed that donations would come from herself, ex-husband Marc Anthony, the New York Yankees and Major League Baseball: “Alex Roriguez and I, who are both New Yorkers, are using all our resources and relationships in entertainment, sports and business to garner support for Puerto Rico and the Caribbean,”

In 2016 the singer released ‘Love Make The World Go Round‘ with Lin-Manuel Miranda to raise funds for the Orlando nightclub shooting. The proceeds from the song were donated to the charity Proyecto Somos Orlando.
