Kendrick Lamar will release a collectors edition of his Grammy-nominated album DAMN. with the tracklist reversed.
The reissue of the album will be available via Microsoft’s online store and begins with ‘DUCKWORTH.’, the original records closing track. The album plays backwards finally finishing up with ‘BLOOD.’, the original’s opener.
Back in August, the rapper explained in an interview that the album is meant to be played both forwards and backwards stating: “You listen from the back end, and it’s almost the duality and the contrast of the intricate Kendrick Lamar. Both of these pieces are who I am.”
The collector’s edition of Lamar’s fourth full-length album, DAMN., features new cover artwork of the rapper wearing a t-shirt featuring the album’s title. The LP was available to purchase briefly last night via the Microsoft site and is rumoured to have a wider release in the near future. A glimpse of the album’s artwork and tracks can be seen here in the artist’s “Top songs” section.
