Kendrick Lamar and SZA have been sued for stealing an artist’s artwork in their ‘All The Stars‘ music video, TMZ reports.
The British-Liberian artist, Lina Iris Viktor, claims that her artwork was used in the Black Panther song video without her consent. The New York Times reports that her lawyer had sent Top Dawg Entertainment‘s Anthony Tiffith a letter warning him of the copyright violation. The letter disclosed that Viktor “willing to discuss a resolution of all her claims, consisting at a minimum of a public apology for the unauthorized use and a license fee.”
Viktor, according to TMZ, has stated that she does not want Kendrick and SZA to use the artwork to promote the song.
“Feel reassured – I am seeking justice,” she wrote in a statement on her Facebook page. The similarities between her ‘Constellations‘ series work can be seen around the 2:59 mark of ‘All The Stars‘ music video. See for yourself below.
Viktor was reportedly approached by Marvel representatives back in November 2016 and December 2017 about using the artwork to which she declined.
