Prince’s ultra rare Black Album vinyl for sale

Prince‘s Black Album vinyl is possibly one of the most sought-after records in history and now copies of it are selling for $15,000 each.

Back in 1987, prior to the album’s release, Prince ordered all 500,000 copies to be recalled and destroyed. The Black Album finally got a limited release in 1994 on CD and cassette but never received a commercial vinyl.

Now, five mint copies of the extremely rare record have been unearthed in sealed mailers by a former Warner Bros. employee. Three of the copies were sent to former Warner Bros. Executive Vice President Jeff Gold who runs Record Mecca, a music memorabilia site. One of the records was sold to an unknown buyer whilst the remaining two are on sale via his website.

According to Rolling Stone, Gold has plans to keep one and is contemplating selling the last copy next year at auction.
