Radiohead are suing Lana Del Rey over the similarities between her song ‘Get Free‘ and their 1992 track, ‘Creep‘.
Reports have stated that “Radiohead’s team are hoping for the band to either receive compensation or be credited on the list of songwriters to receive royalties.” Lana also confirmed the lawsuit on Twitter writing: “It’s true about the lawsuit. Although I know my song wasn’t inspired by Creep, Radiohead feel it was and want 100% of the publishing – I offered up to 40 over the last few months but they will only accept 100.” See the full tweet below.
It’s true about the lawsuit. Although I know my song wasn’t inspired by Creep, Radiohead feel it was and want 100% of the publishing – I offered up to 40 over the last few months but they will only accept 100. Their lawyers have been relentless, so we will deal with it in court.

‘Get Free‘ was co-written by Lana Del Rey, Rick Nowels, and Kieron Menzies and appears on the singer’s fifth studio album, Lust For Life. The album came out last year with the track going straight to no. 1. Listen to ‘Get Free‘ and ‘Creep‘ below.
Although Radiohead are suing Miss Del Rey for supposedly copying their song, when ‘Creep‘ was first released the band were allegedly sued of the single’s similarities to ‘The Air That I Breathe‘ by the Hollies. Following an out of court settlement Albert Hammond and Mike Hazlewood who write the 1974 song were added to the writing credits of ‘Creep‘.
