R&B singer-songwriter Emanuel joins Spotify’s global emerging artist program

R&B singer-songwriter Emanuel has become the first Canadanian musician to join Spotify’s global emerging artist program, ‘On The Radar’. This follows the release of his debut EP ‘Session 1: Disillusion’ earlier this year, a record which beautifully showcases the emotion, power and agility of this emerging voice. Reminiscent of Frank Ocean at moments and Miguel at others, Emanuel still manages to create an idiosyncratic sound. With alumni of Spotify’s emerging artists program including Rex Orange County and Jorja Smith amongst others, it is sure to be only a matter of time until Emanuel becomes one of R&B’s biggest names.

Speaking about the exciting year he’s had, Emanuel says: “I recently dropped Session 1: Disillusion – my first EP – which is all about love, healing, renaissance, dedication and defiance. We’re going through transitions and as artists, it’s important for us to use our art to create deeper connections and show our commitment to our communities. When Spotify approached me to be RADAR’s first Canadian emerging artist, I was super honoured and I am so proud to be able to bring my fans further into my world, especially as human connections change and reflect the times we are living through. Let this love in music be your Alt Therapy.”

Emmanuel made his international debut earlier this year with the release of single ‘Need You’, the video for which was curated by Idris Elba, who also assumes the position of Executive Producer. The EP was mixed by Gary Noble (Amy Winehouse, Fugees). The break-out single earned him impressive accolades; he was named Apple Music’s New Artist of the Week, one of Amazon Music’s Artists to Watch and featured on Spotify’s premiere billboard in Toronto. To add to this notable list of achievements, Emanuel has now been named the Beats Artist of the Week. This is all well-deserved acclaim for such a new artist, and we eagerly await his debut album ALT THERAPY, which will follow a collection of music to be released throughout the year, with ‘Session 1: Disillusion’ serving as the first installment of Emanuel’s sparkling talent.
