The musical will feature music from David Bowie, The Flaming Lips, and John Legend
The SpongeBob Musical will make its way onto Broadway this December at The Palace Theatre with previews running throughout November. Tickets for the show are due to go on sale 26th June.
The list of musical contributions for the SpongeBob Musical is huge. Original music comes from Steven Tyler and Joe Perry of Aerosmith, Yolanda Adams, Sara Bareilles, Alexander Ebert of Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros, the Flaming Lips, John Legend, Lady Antebellum, Cyndi Lauper, Panic! At the Disco, Plain White T’s, They Might Be Giants and T.I., David Bowie, and Jonathan Coulton.
Reportedly, Bowie’s ‘No Control‘ will feature in the musical, along with an original Flaming Lips song titled ‘Tomorrow Is‘. In addition to this, Joe Perry and Stephen Tyler have also penned a new song for the musical called, ‘Bikini Bottom Boogie‘.
Bowie was a fan of SpongeBob SquarePants and had appeared in an episode of the televised musical comedy, SpongeBob’s Atlantis SquarePantis (pictured above).
