Twitter reacts to Kanye West’s TMZ video wipeout

Kanye West spoke to TMZ on Tuesday in a live video interview to discuss his recent Twitter antics regarding Donald Trump, Obama and Jay-Z.

During the interview, the ‘Ultra Light Beam‘ rapper voiced even more controversial opinions stating that slavery was a “choice“.

When you hear about slavery for 400 years — for 400 years?” West said. “That sounds like a choice. Like, you was there for 400 years and it’s all of y’all? It’s like we’re mentally in prison.

Ye’s comments proceeded to spark another employee, Van Lathan, to square up and fire back a response of his own: “I actually don’t think you’re thinking anything,” Lathan said.

He continued: “I think what you’re doing right now is actually the absence of thought. And the reason why I feel like that is because, Kanye, you’re entitled to your opinion. You’re entitled to believe whatever you want.

But there is fact, and real-world, real-life consequence behind everything that you just said. And while you are making music and being an artist and living the life that you’ve earned by being a genius, the rest of us in society have to deal with these threats to our lives. We have to deal with the marginalization that has come from the 400 years of slavery that you said, for our people, was a choice.

Frankly, I’m disappointed, I’m appalled and, brother, I am unbelievably hurt by the fact that you have morphed into something, to me, that’s not real.

Kanye also took to Twitter to defend himself stating: “the reason why I brought up the 400 years point is because we can’t be mentally imprisoned for another 400 years.

Some are funny, some are angry and some are straight to the point. Check out the best social media responses below.

50 Cent had more of a humorous approach to the drama joking about West’s pre-wedding liposuction. Watch Fiddy’s response below.

Following the social media storm, new hashtag #IfSlaveryWasAChoice began trending on Twitter.
