Watch SZA give motivational speech and perform ‘The Weekend’ at her old high school

To celebrate being inducted into the hall of fame at her old high school, SZA returned there to give a speech to the students and deliver an impromptu performance.

During her visit, the Class of 2008 graduate played her track ‘The Weekend‘ from her excellent debut album Ctrl. She also told the student body at Columbia High School in Maplewood, New Jersey, that when she went to the school “things were very different.” She continued her motivational talk discussing starting a career, building friendships and believing in and trusting yourself. “It starts with trusting yourself, even if people are telling you you’re too young to trust yourself,” she said.
