A Tribe Called Quest have hinted during this years tour that these shows would be their last following the death of bandmate Phife Dawg.
Last night at Bestival, Q-Tip addressed the crowd confirming it was over. He said: “We lost our boy Phife Dawg. This is gonna be our last show as A Tribe Called Quest, ever”. The last show rounded off the group’s incredible 27-year music career as they played a number of classics and favourites. Watch footage from the gig below.
Phife Dawg passed away back in 2016 after an issue stemming from his diabetes. During the band’s career, they have released a total of six studio albums with their last, We Got It from Here… Thank You 4 Your Service, being released in 2016. The hip-hop group have also released a number of additional compilations including, Hits, Rarities & Remixes, The Lost Tribes, and The Best Of A Tribe Called Quest.
