Wild Beasts have announced they are “coming to an end”

Beloved British art-rockers Wild Beasts have today announced that they are “coming to an end.” After 15 years as a band, and five brilliantly gorgeous and acerbic albums, the Kendal quartet have today posted a statement on Twitter announcing that they are winding up the project.

The full statement reads:

“Wild Beasts are coming to an end.

Our hearts and minds have been devoted to the band since we were teenagers. We’ve created something quite of our own and built a body of work which we stand by as heartfelt and true.

The four of us have decided, for our own reasons and in our own ways, that it is now time to leave this orbit.

We’re care takers to something precious and don’t want to have it diminish as we move forward in our lives.

Thank you for your love and energy and for helping us make it what it is. We consider ourselves remarkably fortunate to have lived out this dream.

Before we go, we’d like to celebrate with you and we’ll be in touch in the morning with further announcements.

Wild Beasts”

As ever, the statement emphasises the classiness of the group and their respect for their fanbase. They are not exaggerating when they say that they’ve “created something quite of [their] own,” that is “heartfelt and true.” Just as one example of dozens that could be highlighted, here is ‘End Come To Soon‘, the epic closing track of their third album, 2011’s Smother.

At least there is still anticipation for the final celebrations before they’re gone for good. If, as expected, they are career-spanning celebratory concerts, then we would encourage one and all to take the final opportunity to see one of Britain’s greatest modern musical treasures.
