Paige’s songwriting often draws from her own life, exploring the highs and lows of living with bipolar disorder, bad luck, and self-reflection. “The lyrics that came out for ‘Alien Girl’ ended up being about alienation, and feeling out of touch with the people around me,” Paige explains. “It’s old soul stuff with a modern twist.” Inspired by doo-wop and vocal groups from the late 1940s to early 1960s, Paige’s latest work embraces storytelling that steps away from typical love songs, opting instead to delve deeper into the human experience.
Complementing the release is a striking music video, shot by Buio Assis. Paige appears in green makeup, a playful nod to her time performing with her previous band, The Psychics, where she would paint her face a different color for each show. Filmed in a grocery store during regular business hours, the video captures a candid, quirky atmosphere that reflects Paige’s willingness to break convention and fully embrace the absurd.
“The music video was so wild to make,” Paige shares. “I was honestly so surprised by how supportive most comments were. A lot of cute retired folks wishing me the best. Greening myself took all the pressure off—no matter what, I would look silly and ugly, and that’s okay. I’m not a model, I’m a musician.”
Paige’s dedication to her craft extends beyond her music. She handles nearly every aspect of her work, from recording and mixing to designing the artwork and even styling her bandmates in her vintage clothing collection. As a self-managed artist, her hands-on approach allows her creative vision to shine through in every detail of her projects.
