Dublin-based songwriter Tom Doyle, the mastermind behind The Neon Sea, is back with a vengeance with his latest single “Sleepwalker”, a genre-bending track that perfectly blends Alternative Rock, Post-Punk, and Shoegaze elements.
Following the success of his debut single “As I Wonder”, The Neon Sea’s newest release takes a darker, more immediate approach, exploring introspective themes within a raw and hypnotic soundscape. Produced by multi-instrumentalist and producer Dave Flood in Dublin and mastered by Christian Wright (Arcade Fire, Blur, LCD Soundsystem, Johnny Greenwood) at the legendary Abbey Road Studios in London, “Sleepwalker” is a loop-driven, hard-hitting track that’s impossible to shake off.
According to Doyle, “I wanted the song to sound like a hypnotic loop with a dark edge — something shorter and harder than our first single.” The result is a mesmerizing track that perfectly captures the mood and atmosphere The Neon Sea is known for.
Formed in Dublin, The Neon Sea takes inspiration from iconic acts such as The Cure, My Bloody Valentine, Nirvana, The Stone Roses, Soundgarden, and Ride, blending Post-Punk, Shoegaze, and Alternative Rock elements to create a unique sound that’s both nostalgic and fresh.
While The Neon Sea is currently a studio project, Doyle plans to expand the band’s lineup to bring their music to the live stage in the near future. The band’s artistic identity is further accentuated by the unique abstract artwork created by Doyle’s six-year-old son, adding a personal touch to their visual aesthetic.
