And now for something completely different! The legendary Joan Jett and the Blackhearts are heading out on tour tomorrow, with the equally legendary Bryan Adams, across the United States. The tour begins in Baltimore, Maryland and concludes, nearly two months later, in Seattle, Washington.
In honor of the tour, we’re premiering a video from Seattle’s La Need Machine. Why are we doing this? Because the song, “She Loves Rock and Roll” is an ode to the mighty Joan!
An interesting note about La Need Machine is that they’re a fully philanthropic band. Every video they release, they pick a new charity to give to. Since this song is a tribute to Joan Jett and she’s a staunch defender of animals, they landed on the Humane Society to receive proceeds from this video.
“She Loves Rock and Roll” includes cute references to cherry bombs, bad reputations, roadrunners and more. The band says the song “is an ode to Joan Jett, and all those female rock and rollers that defy patriarchy in music and, for that matter, anywhere.”
Amen to that. She loves rock and roll. And she don’t care!
