Premiere: NikoCorlin Explores Ambition, Vulnerability, and Industry Sexism in Bold New EP ‘If You Can Dream It’

Danish artist Nikoline Corlin, better known as NikoCorlin, is set to release her daring new EP, If You Can Dream It, a five-track exploration of ambition, fragile relationships, and the stark realities of sexism within the music industry. Slated for release under Carrie Management, the EP captures the emotional and creative depth Corlin has come to be known for, while marking a powerful evolution in her sound and message.

Following the success of her debut album, NikoCorlin took a bold step to push her creative boundaries even further. “Last winter, I went to New York after releasing my debut album. I locked myself in a small room for five weeks to write,” Corlin explains. “The isolation was essential to drown out the noise and focus entirely on my music. I wanted to confront my self-doubt head-on and create without any outside influence.” The result is, If You Can Dream It, an EP forged through intense introspection and a fearless desire to challenge the status quo.

Each of the five tracks was crafted in the heart of Brooklyn, with Corlin using her time in solitude to hone in on her unfiltered artistic vision. To bring the EP to life, she collaborated with her go-to musicians: Julius Amdisen (Kind mod Kind), Milo Duckert Aurvig, and Emil Emborg (Neon Priest). Together, they built a sonic landscape that seamlessly blends electronic textures with raw emotional energy.

One of the standout tracks, ‘Late To The Party’, serves as a pointed critique of the gender imbalance in the Danish music scene. With its poignant lyrics and powerful production, it calls attention to the pervasive sexism women face in an industry often dominated by male voices. “The five songs on this EP explore the different facets of being an artist, especially as a woman in the music industry,” Corlin shares. “Some tracks have an intimate, introspective vibe, while others are more outspoken, inviting listeners to dance through their insecurities.”

Musically, Corlin aimed for simplicity and emotional depth. “I worked with simple compositions, large synth surfaces, and multiple vocal tracks that capture a range of emotions—from dry and sorrowful to searching and clear,” she says. This approach allows the EP to maintain an air of vulnerability while delivering a powerful punch. “The expression was meant to encapsulate the feeling of being lonely in the crowd, the chaos, and the music, in an attempt to find one’s place as an artist.”

The EP’s title, If You Can Dream It, reflects the spirit of perseverance and ambition that runs through the entire project. “The title is a reference to the idea that as long as you can dream and believe in it, it will succeed,” Corlin notes. “Dreams can also be the ones that hurt us the most if they don’t come true, but they remain our driving force. They are the one thing no one can take away from us.”

In, If You Can Dream It, NikoCorlin offers listeners not only a glimpse into her world but a call to action for those navigating their own dreams in the face of adversity. The EP stands as a testament to her resilience, artistic growth, and unwavering belief in the power of ambition and authenticity.
