Singer-Songwriter Lauren Teel Gets Personal with the “Vows” (Watch)

Born in Texas, singer-songwriter Lauren Teel isn’t afraid of telling her unique story through her music. With her official music video release for Vows, the rising musician tells the story of her parent’s divorce.

I wrote this song when I was 14 years old, and the feelings I felt then sometimes find their way back to me now at 20,” explains Teel. “My parents went through an extremely messy divorce, to say the least, and I took different pieces from both of their perspectives to write what I think is the ballad of the death of a marriage. This song was a way for me to heal, and to find closure in what once was.

She recalls beginning her songwriting journey in the fourth grade during recess and boasts of writing song after song ever since. Spending a majority of her pre-teen and teen years in a suburb outside of Dallas after her parents’ divorce, Lauren found comfort in writing her feelings into songs, and her old soul style of writing surely shows it.

My team and I are currently finishing up recording my EP, which is set to drop this fall,” explains Lauren. “I also will be having another single coming out that discusses the pain and suffering of being overweight; something that I’ve dealt with for most of my life.
