Emerging singer-songwriter Stella Prince has a powerful voice, with music and a spirit reminiscent of a young Joni Mitchell. She released her emotional sophomore single, “Scared” on May 21, drawing listeners in with her vulnerable lyrics and captivating vocals. Self-written by Stella, the wistful track delves into the uncertainty of the future. Stella shared exclusively with Music Crowns about the track, “‘Scared’ is about how overwhelming life can feel when you don’t know what is coming next in life,” she explains, “The frustration of waiting for what you want–whether you are young and just starting out or transitioning out of one phase and into the new– can be really scary. It’s all a leap of faith. Realizing that pursuing my dreams is up to me is frightening yet empowering.”
With a unique array of influences including Joni Mitchell and EmmyLou Harris, the New York native has performed in such venues as Nashville’s The Bluebird Cafe, Pig N’ Whistle in Los Angeles, Woodstock’s The Colony, The Falcon, and Club Helsinki. A confessional storyteller, Stella communicates her personal life experiences to her listeners and strives to make a difference in their lives through the power of her music. Speaking from the heart with each song release, she shared that she hopes listeners can relate to her latest single, especially after the uncertainties and challenges of the pandemic.
“I hope listeners can relate to the anxiety I’m talking about, which I think so many of us have been experiencing, especially this past year. But I hope people connect to the overall hopeful message of trusting yourself to make it through.”

As for the future, Stella is currently working on new music to be released later this summer, and she has exciting shows and projects in the works. “This summer will be filled with performing live and writing a ton and recording my next few upcoming releases. I was just in the recording studio this week for my upcoming 3rd single to be released in July. And I’m working on a Folk show that I’m really excited about and am hoping I’ll get to tour within the fall and into the winter. I just completed all of my schooling early, so I’ll be focusing all my energy on my music. My song “Scared” was just played on New York’s amazing radio station WFUV, which is thrilling! 2021 will be my most exciting year yet, so stay tuned!”
