3 of the best music festivals to visit this year

Summer is upon us. The sun is shining, and people are feeling good. That can only mean one thing: it’s festival season. With years of disruption, thanks to the impact of Covid, it’s great to be entering the 2022 season knowing that we can all get out there again and enjoy some spectacular shows.

There are plenty of festivals to choose from. If you’re a festival regular, you probably already have your favourites, but what if you’re a festival newbie? How do you decide where to go and how can you be sure that you’ll enjoy it? The thing is festivals can vary hugely and they can all offer a very different experience. Here’s a look at the three we think are well worth checking out:

Glastonbury

When you mention a music festival, it’s hard not to think of this iconic festival. Now celebrating its 50th year, this is a festival unlike any other. With over 100 stages, you can be sure that you’ll never be short of entertainment. From world-famous artists to breakthrough acts, there’s certainly plenty going on.

The organiser of Croissant Neuf, Sally Howell, has recently been speaking to Betway about her role, and how she books her acts. She refers to Glastonbury as being a non-stop job as she reveals: “I have agents constantly sending through CDs and emails, so it never actually stops”.

While you can find the likes of Macca on the main stage, the smaller stages over at Croissant Neuf have played a major role in many a music career. It was here, back in 2011, that Ed Sheeran made his debut Glastonbury appearance. Soon after, he was propelled to international fame and is now one of the top music acts around.

Tomorrowland

What’s great about Covid restrictions being lifted is that international travel has got that little bit easier again. That means if you want to experience a festival overseas, you can now do this with ease. When of the best places to head is Belgium, where you can enjoy all that Tomorrowland has to offer.

For the last 13 years, this is a festival that has excelled when it comes to dance music. You’ll find that Tomorrowland features a gigantic centre stage and that this stage attracts some of the biggest names around. You’ll find that practically every DJ that you’ve ever heard of makes an appearance here.

Creamfields

If the thought of international travel doesn’t really appeal, Creamfields is another UK music festival that certainly pulls in the crowds. Creamfields has the reputation of being the UK’s premier electronic music weekend, and it attracts some big-name performers.

In terms of the crowd, you can expect to be joined by around 70,000 other festival-goers. This crowd gets to enjoy over 300 of the best dance acts as they’re performed across 30 stages. As a 4 day weekend, Creamfields offers a great festival experience with a truly diverse lineup.
