Acclaimed British artist Shingai has joined forces with esteemed DJ Lara Fraser for their joint dance-pop bop “In This World” – out via KJ Spio’s record label Eagle Ent.
With the track, the dynamic duo team up to share an uplifting, encouraging tale of hope to audiences across the world. DJ Lara Fraser’s soft electropop production is a fresh change for Shingai – yet the perfect match for the renowned star’s signature sweet, powerful vocal performance which she has become celebrated for since gaining widespread popularity with her indie-rock band The Noisettes. The complementary video for “In This World” matches the track’s optimistic, mellow vibe while also visually bringing to life the lyrical messages of female empowerment.
Speaking about “In This World”, Shingai shared that “it’s time to lift the vibes up and give people an anthem of hope in these times so that we can look forward to being together on the dance floor again… one day” whereas DJ Lara Fraser explained: “Shingai and I set out to write a song about hope. We collaborated throughout 2020, one of the most tumultuous years of our generation. A year where we collectively learnt about loneliness and isolation. We learnt about our human need for companionship; we all need somebody to be the light that illuminates the way.”
As the lead vocalist and bassist of British band The Noisettes, Shingai has sold out international tours throughout 2012-2017 and achieved mainstream success with the band’s music. An outspoken advocate for social change and always unafraid of speaking the truth, the Zimbabwean-British songstress released her acclaimed solo album Too Bold via her own label Zimtron in October 2020, racking up over a million streams while also making major global headlines for speaking out about racial inequality in the music industry as well as appearing in the Channel 4 documentary, Hair Power: Me and My Afro.
Meanwhile, Australian-born DJ Lara Fraser has made waves in the fashion and socialite crowds as one half of DJ duo The Lallas alongside Games of Thrones actress and radio host Laura Pradelska. Landing a primetime slot on Resonance FM for a radio show, the duo has played major gigs including London Fashion Week, Monaco Grand Prix, The Royal Ascot and Cannes Film Fest. Fraser is also a resident DJ and global ambassador for key brands such as Fashion for Conservation and Pink Ribbon Breast Cancer Charity.
