Nominee gets intimate with their new single and music video “Kitchen Sink.” This is their second single off of their debut LP Lowlife, set to be released September 24, 2021, via Smartpunk Records. Overall, the single hits on wanting to progress but still feeling angsty about the situation and dwelling on it. Moving on and focusing on recuperating can be difficult for many. “Kitchen Sink” does an amazing job at capturing the waves of emotions you could go through and the toxic coping mechanisms you could pick up. “Kitchen Sink” was originally a demo written long before going into the studio. The end result from demo to final was drastically different from where they started. This is all part of the collaborative, creative process, especially when it comes to working with a producer, and they couldn’t be happier with how it all turned out.
“The kitchen sink video was fun because we were able to use our creativity in designing different shots and camera tricks to get an interesting result. A story we really wanted to tell and was personal to us” -Nominee
Austin’s five-piece Nominee has road-ready hooks and spitfire production values in their DNA. It developed over five years spent crisscrossing the United States in search of new fans from SXSW and back. A collection of releases has already established them as a post-hardcore powerhouse, effortlessly blending true grit with infectious energy. Their debut LP Lowlife—coming fall 2021 via Smartpunk Records (RIVALS, Northbound, Taking Meds)—doubles down on their winning formula for an early podium finish. According to frontman Chris Mclelland, “every song sounds like Nominee, but we’ve added some new elements that we’re excited about as well.” Nominee’s already pushed against impossible odds, tackling bipolar disorder on 2017’s Drag Me Out and addiction cycles on their 2014 debut. Their latest effort is a second wind in the boxing match against self and others with a reinvigorating coat of paint. Nominee’s songs have grown larger and wilder.
