Thomas McConnell

Thomas McConnell is a Singer/Songwriter, born 8th April 1993.

He started life in Liverpool but grew up in Newcastle upon Tyne, keeping the musical legacy of his birthplace with him in the upheaval further north.

As childhood addresses passed by, Thomas’ musical abilities developed alongside a love of The Beatles & their music – the defining influence on everything in his life. He began composing around the age of 11 and recording hundreds of little instrumental pieces (most of which are pretty poor) on a home 8 track recording machine. By age 15 he was writing fully formed songs.

Thomas’s songs are largely informed by the work of his heroes, in particular Paul McCartney & Eric Morecambe, and draw on a troubled six-year period of his life.

Thomas moved back to Liverpool in 2009 and he is currently playing and working on the music scene around Merseyside. He has had airplay on BBC Radio 6’s Introducing Mixtape, BBC Radio Merseyside and The Tom Robinson Show, and on Liver Radio (www.liverradio.co.uk), has supported China Crisis, Tom Hingley, Ian McCulloch and Ian Broudie live and frequently gigs around Liverpool and beyond.

In October 2012 he released his debut single Stop In The Shade and the Stop In The Shade EP on CD for the China Crisis tour. He is also set to release a cover of Paul McCartney’s 1971 classic, “The Back Seat Of My Car” in January 2013.
